Average daily turnover has nearly TRIPLED over the last 8 years.
This comes as off-exchange trading volume as a % of total stock trading has averaged a record 51% YTD, marking its 3rd consecutive annual increase.
This reflects activity on platforms that match brokerage orders, a common proxy for participation of retail investors.

US small business bankruptcies are surging as if there is a recession:
A record 2,221 small firms have filed for bankruptcy under Subchapter V year-to-date.
Subchapter V allows businesses and individuals with under $3 million in debt to reorganize more quickly and cheaply than traditional Chapter 11.
Bankruptcies have risen +83% over the last 5 years.
This surge has continued despite the debt limit being reduced from $7.5 million to $3 million last year, which made it harder for larger businesses to qualify.

Can non-tech #S&P 500 components catch up?
Currently, ~35%, or ~175, of the S&P 500's components are in bear market territory, the most since May.
By comparison, this percentage oscillated around ~20% for the 12 months ending in November 2024.
As a result of narrowing breadth, the S&P 500's equal-weighted index relative to the S&P 500 has fallen to near its lowest level in 22 years.
This means the average #stock has significantly underperformed the market benchmark.
If market breadth can improve, fuel will be added to the fire.

The $BTC ETFs mostly saw outflows with short bursts of inflows

BTC.D has been virtually unchanged for the past few months. While there have been some signs of movement, ALT/BTC has practically ground to a halt against BTC after the initial ETH/BTC rally in the summer.
In times of uncertainty, $BTC will remain the preferred choice for many.

US reliance on China's rare earths is set to decline:
The US is now on track to meet ~94% of its rare earth demand from domestic sources by 2030.
This percentage is expected to more than quadruple from the 20% seen in 2024.
