Nomura: Trump's speech failed to ease tensions, Asian currencies may weaken
Golden Finance reports that on April 2, Robby Subbaraman, head of global markets research at Nomura Securities, said that U.S. President Trump stated that the United States will launch an extremely intense strike on Iran within the next two to three weeks, but did not offer a specific plan for how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump’s remarks failed to send a clear signal to the market that would ease tensions. Asian currencies may weaken against the U.S. dollar. If volatility accelerates too quickly, central banks in various countries may increase their intervention efforts, which could put upward pressure on government bond yields. (Jin10)
