Iranian officials: Plan to implement access and fee system for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz
Golden Finance reports: On March 30, according to CCTV, a member of the Iranian Islamic Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Aladin Broujedi, said on March 30 local time that, given the current international security situation and external threats, Iran is seriously considering withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and plans to implement stricter entry and fee regulations for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Broujedi also said that Iran currently has full control over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway. He revealed that Iran plans to establish an entirely new strait management system, modeled on Turkey’s management of the Bosporus Strait and Egypt’s management of the Suez Canal, requiring that vessels transiting the strait must obtain permission from the Iranian side and pay the corresponding transit and service fees.
