This scammer is really talented, huh. Rodney Burton, known as 'Bitcoin Rodney,' has been charged by federal prosecutors in Maryland with 11 counts related to the $1.8 billion HyperFund scheme. Wire fraud, money laundering, and operating an illegal money transfer business—all of that. If guilty, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

The most interesting part? He used the stolen funds to buy luxury homes and yachts while the scheme ran from 2020 to 2024. So basically, all his assets come from fraud. The Rodney Burton net worth publicly seen is built entirely on scamming people. He is with Brenda Chunga, who has already pleaded guilty, but co-founder Sam Lee is still at large.

Even more alarming—this went on for a long time before being caught. This is exactly why you should be careful with crypto schemes that seem too good to be true. It's shocking that something like this still exists in 2024.
