US Treasury Adds Venmo for Debt Donations as Bitcoin Reserve Bill Stalls

US Treasury added PayPal and Venmo to its Pay.gov debt donation form, but donations average about $120,000 a month against a $39 trillion debt load. Treasury data shows the program has operated since 1961 and has received about $67 million since 1996, including about $30,000 in February 2026. Meanwhile, the BITCOIN Act of 2025, which would direct the purchase of 1 million BTC over five years, remains stuck in committee.
