Deep Tide TechFlow News: On April 24, according to CoinDesk, India is piloting the application of the digital rupee through about 10 welfare programs. It will distribute some approximately $80 billion in subsidies and food benefits via e-rupee to reduce fund leakage and corruption, and to provide clearer use cases for a central bank digital currency. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India is working to propose a cross-member CBDC interconnection plan at the 2026 BRICS summit, aiming to improve the efficiency of cross-border trade settlement and reduce reliance on the US dollar. Currently, there are about 10 million e-rupee users, with a cumulative transaction value of approximately $3.6 billion; the scale is still clearly far below India’s UPI system, which processes about $300 billion in transactions each month.
