X announces the shutdown of the Communities feature, replaced by group chat links
Deep Tide TechFlow News, April 23, According to a post by X product lead Nikita Bier, the X platform announced two community feature adjustments: first, the launch of an XChat group chat join link feature, allowing users to create public links to share directly to their timeline, with each group chat currently supporting up to 350 members and the limit continuing to increase; second, due to ongoing decline in usage, the X Communities feature will be officially discontinued on May 6.
X recommends that existing community administrators pin the group chat links within the next two weeks to facilitate member migration. Nikita Bier stated that this adjustment is part of X’s overall effort to simplify the product experience, and the platform will continue to invest in vertical communities through features like Custom Timelines.
