Everyone’s talking about the @opentensor dump, but here’s the actual cause:

Covenant AI, the largest subnet on Bittensor, exited the network.
Founder Sam Dare didn’t just step away, he sold ~37,000 $TAO on the way out and publicly called the system “decentralization theatre,” directly calling out Jacob Steeves for centralized control.
That combination: → Loss of the biggest subnet (fundamental hit)
→ Large token sell pressure (liquidity shock)
→ Public attack on decentralization (narrative break)
That’s what triggered the ~18% dump, not macro.
Now here is why you should be more bullish 🔻
• 120+ active subnets still running
• Real AI use cases + revenue
• Strong tokenomics (21M cap, halving, emissions dropping)
• Majority supply locked in staking
So yes, this is a trust shock, not a structural collapse.
If anything, this is where the market decides: does the decentralization thesis still hold, or not?
Long term, I still think what they’re building is solid.
