It's interesting to see who actually owns the most Bitcoins. There are some surprising names on the list.
At the top is, of course, Satoshi Nakamoto with an estimated 1.1 million BTC—these coins have never been moved since the early days. Following are some major financial players: one of the world's largest exchanges holds over 550,000 BTC, and BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has over 305,000 BTC. A leading US cryptocurrency exchange also holds nearly 300,000 BTC.
I also find the other players interesting: Grayscale with over 260,000 BTC, MicroStrategy under Michael Saylor with an aggressive accumulation strategy at over 226,000 BTC. Governments are involved too— the US with over 213,000 BTC from seizures, China with about 190,000 BTC. Fidelity, Fidelity Investments, and Block.one round out the top 10.
This actually shows how concentrated Bitcoin holdings still are. Institutional investors and established players dominate the list, while Satoshi remains the largest Bitcoin holder—just a fascinating aspect of the entire market.
