I just read something interesting about Gavin Wood and why he decided to return as CEO of Polkadot. It's worth analyzing because it says a lot about leadership in crypto.
For those who don't know him, Gavin Wood is the guy who helped build Ethereum in its early days and then created Polkadot, the project that aims to connect different blockchains so they can work together. He also founded the Web3 Foundation. Basically, he's one of those names you see in crypto history books.
Now, what's interesting is that he left a few years ago. He stepped down from his role as CEO at Parity Technologies. The reason? He says he's not a management type for daily operations. He prefers to think deeply, create, and design. According to him, stress and constant administration close your mind. He spent two years working on JAM, which is basically a major upgrade for Polkadot. Pure building time.
But now he's back. Why? Because the timing is right. JAM is ready, the market is ready, and Polkadot 2.0 is on the way. Wood sees that it's time to lead the next important phase of the project. What's interesting is that he doesn't want people to follow him blindly. He says that in crypto, leaders shouldn't be the most important thing. Polkadot is designed to share power, not depend on one person.
Regarding his vision for the ecosystem, he has strong opinions. He believes that Ethereum's Layer 2 is basically a power move. He thinks many coins are just noise and don't create real value. But he's optimistic about what he's doing: he says this is one of the most exciting moments of his crypto career.
What catches my attention about Gavin Wood is his philosophy. It's not just about technology. He talks about freedom, control over your own life, and that real progress is about creating systems that empower people, not relying on central authorities. Curiosity is more important than titles or money, according to him.
Currently, DOT is trading around $1.27. Not a bad time to keep a close eye on what Gavin Wood does with Polkadot in this new phase. Definitely worth paying attention to the moves coming up.
