Türkiye’s Vice President Stresses Strategic Importance of Turkic Bloc

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz on Thursday underscored the increasing significance of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), describing recent achievements within the bloc as “highly valuable” amid shifting regional dynamics and global uncertainty.

Speaking in Baku, Azerbaijan, after a meeting of prime ministers and vice presidents from OTS member states, Yilmaz noted that the organization is gaining momentum during a period of heightened geopolitical tensions.

“The progress and development achieved by the Organization of Turkic States in recent years is extremely valuable,” he said, adding that a more peaceful environment in the South Caucasus is expected to improve connectivity between Türkiye and other Turkic nations.

Yilmaz highlighted that as international institutions face challenges, regional cooperation through the OTS has become increasingly important, providing a platform for stability and coordinated development.

He also pointed to the bloc’s strong economic performance, noting that OTS member countries are growing at nearly twice the global average. “While global growth stood at around 3% last year, OTS member countries saw growth of approximately 6%,” Yilmaz said. “They are advancing at nearly double the global rate, with rising national incomes.”
