I have always found it fascinating to see how one person can transform multiple industries at once. Elon Musk truly embodies this ability to completely rethink entire fields, and his companies reflect this boundless ambition.
Like many people, I first associate Musk with Tesla. The company, launched in 2003, has completely changed the perception of electric vehicles. What impresses me is that he didn't just make cars—Tesla revolutionized batteries, developed full self-driving, and even integrated solar solutions through SolarCity. It has become a true empire around sustainable energy.
But Tesla is only one piece of the puzzle. SpaceX, founded in 2002, represents a turning point in space exploration for me. Before SpaceX, everyone thought reusable rockets were impossible. Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy proved otherwise. And now with Starship, we're seriously talking about going to Mars. It’s crazy when you think about it.
What also intrigues me is how Musk approaches everyday problems. The Boring Company, created in 2016, seems almost anecdotal compared to the others, but the idea of solving traffic jams with underground tunnels via Hyperloop isn’t stupid. The Vegas Loop is a good example.
Neuralink particularly fascinates me. Also founded in 2016, this company works on brain-computer interfaces. The goal of treating paralysis and restoring cognitive functions raises interesting ethical questions, but the medical potential is enormous.
Then there’s the acquisition of Twitter in 2022 for about $44 billion, rebranded as X in 2023. Musk has really shaken up the platform—restructuring the advertising model, changing the verification system. His ambition is to turn X into a super-app, which shows a very different vision from that of the previous owners.
And then there’s OpenAI. Musk helped launch this AI research organization, even though he left afterward. GPT and the systems that stem from it have truly changed the game. It’s crazy to see how these technologies are now shaping our daily lives.
The companies of Elon Musk, in the plural, really show a coherent strategy: sustainability, technology, innovation. Each company addresses a specific problem, but together they outline a vision of a more advanced future. Whether you like him or not, you can’t ignore the impact he has had on these sectors.
