Our country's undersea high-speed rail shield tunnel breaks the world record

People’s Finance News, April 6—The Shenzhen–Jiangmen Shenshan (Shenzhen–Jiangmen) Railway, which connects Guangdong’s Shenzhen and Jiangmen, is an important part of the coastal corridor of the country’s “eight verticals and eight horizontals” high-speed rail network. At present, the project construction has entered an intensive breakthrough phase. The Pearl River Estuary tunnel of the Shenshan Railway is an underwater shield-driven high-speed rail tunnel. During the Qingming holiday, the tunnel construction crews stayed at their posts, and the domestically produced large-diameter shield machine “Shenjiang No. 1” kept boring forward day and night. “Shenjiang No. 1” has already advanced more than 4 kilometers, with a depth of 113 meters, setting the world record for the deepest construction of an underwater high-speed rail shield tunnel.
