Just looked into how much BlackRock's CEO Larry Fink is actually making, and the numbers are pretty wild. According to the latest filings, his net worth sits around $1.1 billion as of last year, but that's not even counting what he pulls in annually from the company.
Breaking down his 2022 compensation package alone: base salary of $1.5 million, bonus of $7.25 million, and stock awards worth over $23 million. Total take-home that year? More than $32.7 million. The guy's annual income from BlackRock typically ranges between $20-40 million depending on performance.
What really stands out though is the pay gap. According to AFL-CIO data, his disclosed CEO compensation was literally 212 times what the median BlackRock employee made in fiscal 2022. Let that sink in for a second.
On top of the salary, he owns around 414,146 shares of BlackRock. Even at older valuations, that position alone was worth over $315 million. So when you add everything together - the annual comp, the stock holdings, the overall net worth - you're looking at someone whose financial position is almost incomprehensible compared to the average worker. This is exactly the kind of wealth concentration that keeps coming up in CEO compensation debates.
