Petrodollar might actually be getting tested here
iran asking ships to pay in crypto or yuan to pass through hormuz that’s kinda wild if you think about it
like rn 80% of oil is still traded in usd that’s basically what keeps the dollar strong globally
but if even a small part starts shifting away, countries won’t need to hold as many dollars anymore
less demand → selling pressure on usd then bond yields start creeping up
and once yields go up, the US just ends up paying more on its debt
this isn’t some overnight collapse or anything
but if hormuz slowly turns into a non-usd route that’s a real shift
this is huge for crypto, dollar dominance is crumbling
When will this gonna stop?
