Car coating product rankings can be pretty confusing, right? Water-repellent vs. water-attracting, gloss levels, and so many points to consider. I recently compared a bunch of them, so I’ll share my actual impressions after testing.

If you prioritize water repellency, I think Zero Drop is the best. With over 87% gloss, when you actually apply it, your car’s body shines really brightly. The contact angle is 113 degrees, and water beads roll off effortlessly—it's incredible. However, since water droplets tend to stay a bit, it’s best for those who park in covered garages or can wash their car regularly. The durability lasts about 2 months.

For easy application with a spray, Rain Drop is also a good choice. It has a contact angle of 112 degrees, providing high water repellency, and a gloss level of 66%, giving a nice shine. It lasts around 3 months, so it’s cost-effective. Recommended for first-time users of coating products.

If you prefer a water-attracting type, Zero Water is interesting. Water-attracting coatings usually don’t produce much gloss, but this one has a gloss level of 74%, so it actually looks quite shiny. Since water flows like a film, it’s perfect for those who park in open spaces and wash their cars less frequently. It lasts about 2 months.

Personally, I think choosing between water-repellent and water-attracting should depend more on your parking environment and how often you wash your car. If you park in a covered garage and wash more than once a month, go for top-ranked water-repellent products. If you park outdoors and wash less often, water-attracting coatings are better. Since each coating has different characteristics, the best choice is to match it to your usage.
