When it comes to diving and outdoor activities, a waterproof camera becomes essential. I did some research and found that there are more options than I expected, which made choosing difficult. Each manufacturer—OM SYSTEM, Ricoh, Nikon—has completely different features.

When I compared them directly, I realized that balancing image quality and durability is key. Especially if you're using it for diving, how well it reproduces colors underwater is important. OM SYSTEM's Tough TG-7 has high resolution and looks sharp even when zoomed in, with fast autofocus. It also has a wide range of accessories, making it suitable for serious underwater photography. Ricoh's WG-7 also offers vivid, clear colors and has a webcam function, which might be good for those who want to connect it with their computers.

If you're budget-conscious, the Fujifilm FinePix XP140 can be found for around $230, and it produces natural, beautiful colors. However, it doesn't seem to be great at close-up shots. Nikon's COOLPIX W300 is waterproof up to 30 meters, making it a solid choice for diving-focused use.

Ultimately, the best camera depends on your intended use. If you'll be using it both on land and underwater, prioritize image quality. If you want it as outdoor gear, focus on durability. Since all of these meet basic diving camera requirements, choosing based on specific features and price range is the most practical approach.
