Death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: "Supreme Leader Khamenei is dead and the Iranian people are celebrating." Khamenei was killed in US-Israeli missile strikes that began on February 28, 2026 (with CIA intelligence and Israeli cooperation). Iranian state media also confirmed his death; a 40-day period of mourning was declared. While some Iranians danced and celebrated in the streets (especially anti-regime), pro-regime supporters mourned – the country is experiencing deep polarization. Continuation of the military operation: "The military operation will continue until all our objectives are achieved." The operation is progressing "ahead of schedule"; Trump says it "could be over in 4 weeks or less." The US Navy sank 9 Iranian warships and hit hundreds of targets (including ballistic missile facilities). Immunity requests: "Thousands are requesting immunity." Many from the Iranian security forces and military are turning against the regime; some are ceasing to fight and requesting amnesty/immunity. Trump is encouraging these individuals to leave the regime. Call to the Iranian military: "I call on the Iranian military: Lay down your arms or you will face certain death." Trump is calling on Iranian military personnel to surrender; otherwise, they will be struck with "unprecedented force." The regime is emphasized as being "terrorist." American revenge: "America will avenge the deaths of Americans." Three US soldiers have died in the last 24 hours (as a result of Iranian retaliations); Trump says, "We will avenge their deaths and strike the hardest blow against terrorists who wage war against civilization." He indicates that more casualties are expected. The strength of the US: "America is the strongest and most secure nation in the world." Trump emphasizes that the operation demonstrates US superiority; he says it is aimed at eliminating Iran's nuclear threat and weakening the regime. He states that he is open to dialogue with the new Iranian leadership, but the operations continue uninterrupted.
