Apple announces the release of the "Emperor Plan" TV series, setting a world record: 3,000 drones and a 152.4-meter-tall "Godzilla" lighting up Los Angeles

IT Home, February 24 — Technology media AppleInsider published a blog post yesterday (February 23), reporting that Apple created a drone show in Los Angeles to promote the second season of the Apple TV series “The Monarch: Monster Legacy,” breaking the world record for the highest aerial pattern of fictional characters made by drones.

According to the blog post, Apple partnered with Legendary Pictures to stage this grand drone performance over Los Angeles on February 20. To match the show’s epic setting of giant Titans roaming the Earth, Apple commissioned Heads in the Sky to choreograph this massive drone formation.

The visual spectacle involved 3,000 drones and lasted 12 minutes. The entire formation covered an area roughly the size of three football fields above Hollywood Forever Cemetery, with the highest flight altitude reaching 500 feet (about 152.4 meters).

Using light point arrays, the drones vividly recreated upcoming characters for Season 2, including Godzilla, King Kong, and the new monster “Titan X,” in the night sky. For example, Godzilla’s height in the “Legendary Monster Universe” ranges from 355 feet to 393 feet (note from IT Home: approximately 108.2 meters to 119.8 meters), and the performance perfectly depicted this massive size.

With this achievement, the event successfully broke the world record for the highest aerial pattern of fictional characters made by drones. Previously, this record was held by Marvel, which created a giant Wolverine pattern at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024.

The second season of “The Monarch: Monster Legacy” will premiere on Apple TV+ on February 27, with weekly updates until it concludes on May 1. In the new season, the severely weakened “Monarch Organization” will return to Skull Island, further revealing the organization’s deep history, while the new monster “Titan X” will make its official debut.
