State Council Information Office: Beijing Plain New City’s economic output has reached a trillion-yuan scale

The State Council Information Office held a press conference this morning (12th) to introduce the relevant information about the “Modern Capital Metropolitan Area Spatial Coordination Plan (2023–2035)” and answer questions from reporters. A relevant official from Beijing introduced that Beijing Pingyuan New City is an important node for regional coordination and functional hierarchy, as well as a key part of building a modern capital metropolitan area. Currently, Beijing Pingyuan New City has a total economic volume of trillions of yuan, with the permanent population accounting for over 30% of the city’s total, and has formed multiple cross-border clusters with the surrounding Beijing area, laying a solid development foundation. Looking toward 2035, the region has an incremental space of about 500,000 permanent residents, 70 square kilometers of urban and rural construction land, and a building scale of 200 million square meters. With great development potential, it will serve as an important platform for the appropriate functional relocation of the central urban area and for cross-border commuting of the population within the commuting circle.
