White House Reiterates: Trump Will Not Pardon FTX Founder SBF
February 25 News, according to Forbes, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for FTX fraud, has recently been active on X, expressing support for Trump and criticizing the "deep state" and the presiding judge. This is seen as a public relations effort to seek a presidential pardon.
A White House spokesperson reiterated that Trump made it clear in January that he does not plan to pardon SBF, Menendez, Maduro, and others. The president is the final decision-maker on pardons.
The report points out that although the Trump administration has eased regulations on the crypto industry, SBF was a major donor to the Democratic Party and has a highly negative reputation in the crypto space, making the likelihood of a pardon extremely low.
