Have you heard of the saying "Fish on fire, meat produces phlegm; green vegetables and tofu keep you safe"? Why?

Because fish is expensive, while green vegetables and tofu are cheap.
Have you heard of the saying "A hundred dishes are not as good as cabbage"? Why?
Because cabbage is especially cheap and easy to store in winter.
People who live in deprivation for a long time will eventually get used to it; those who endure suffering for a long time will ultimately praise suffering.
This is a way for Chinese people to maintain psychological balance. If suffering is beneficial and happiness is harmful, then everything I endure has a reason.
However, this also means that pursuing comfort and happiness becomes an unreasonable desire; after just a few days of full meals, I forget who I am.
Happiness and comfort are harmful; only by suffering can we earn the blessings of heaven.
So, people come up with some catchy rhymes and invent pseudo-traditions, unconsciously passing down this habit from generation to generation.
That's why even today some believe "Half an hour of machine washing is not as good as three minutes of hand scrubbing," and those who don't believe are just lazy.
That's why some believe "Eating too much big fish and meat harms the body; hot porridge is better for the stomach."
That's why some believe "Iodophor disinfectant is less effective than alcohol because iodophor doesn't hurt when used."
That's why some believe "Air conditioning blows cold air, fans blow hard, only the hand fan is the healthy natural breeze."
So...
"Endurance and hard work" isn't considered a good phrase. Just as those accustomed to happiness can't live without it, those used to suffering will never be able to live without it.
