ASB currently expects New Zealand house prices to increase by 1.5% by 2026.

Gelonghui February 23 | ASB Bank updated its housing price forecast in the “Economic Weekly” published in Wellington on Monday: the current forecast is a 1.5% increase in housing prices by 2026, down from the previous forecast of a 3.9% increase; it is expected that housing prices will decline by 1% over the next 12 months ending June 2026, compared to the previous forecast of a 0.7% to 2.5% increase. Note: after the New Zealand Real Estate Institute (REINZ) housing price index fell 0.2% month-on-month last week, ASB stated that high supply levels are expected to continue suppressing housing prices, and any recovery in 2026 may be moderate. Note: the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) forecast last week that housing prices will remain unchanged in 2026.
