Aluminum alloy futures prices decline, and the price decline focus for recycled aluminum may shift downward

In the futures market, the Aluminum Alloy 2603 contract opened at 22,250 yuan/ton, with the overall trading session trending downward, breaking below the 22,000 yuan mark. Intraday, it hit a low of 21,860 yuan/ton and closed at 21,915 yuan/ton, down 680 yuan/ton from the previous close, a decline of 3.01%, mainly due to long positions reducing.

In the spot market, SMM ADC12 prices were lowered by 200 yuan/ton to 23,600 yuan/ton. The market sentiment weakened again, and recycled aluminum prices generally followed the decline. Driven by the price drop, downstream buyers mainly replenished stocks on dips, leading to a slight improvement in transaction volumes.

On the supply side, as the Spring Festival approaches, recycled aluminum plants are gradually confirming their production plans for the holiday period. The average shutdown duration has increased by about 2 days compared to last year, mainly due to recent intensified aluminum price fluctuations, widespread production cuts downstream, and ongoing policy tightening and environmental regulations.

Overall, downstream demand continues to contract, and the fundamental support for prices has weakened marginally. In the short term, recycled aluminum alloy prices are expected to remain volatile at high levels, with the price center slightly declining. (SMM)
