The U.S. military begins withdrawal from the Kasruk military base in northeastern Syria

On the 21st local time, it was reported that the U.S. military has begun withdrawing from the Khasakah military base in northeastern Syria. Several U.S. officials previously stated that the U.S. military has completed the withdrawal from the Tanf military base near the Jordan and Iraq borders and the Shadadi military base in northeastern Syria in recent days, and will withdraw from the remaining U.S. positions in Syria within the next two months. U.S. officials said that, given that the U.S.-supported Syrian Democratic Forces, led by Syrian Kurdish fighters, are nearly “dissolved,” the Trump administration believes there is no longer a need to maintain a military presence in Syria. Meanwhile, the U.S. hopes to strengthen diplomatic relations with the Syrian transitional government. (CCTV News)
