Elon Musk is the richest person in the world, with a net worth of nearly $845 billion as of mid-February.
With the amount of money that Elon Musk has, he could clearly purchase anything that he wants. With real estate prices higher than ever, GOBankingRates decided to run calculations to see how many homes one could buy with Elon Musk’s daily income.
Also see how many Americans could retire comfortably with Musk’s net worth.
How Many Average Homes Could He Buy?
According to December calculations from GOBankingRates, Musk’s daily income is about $698 million (though this is an estimate and could fluctuate with Musk’s net worth). The average home value is $357,445, per Zillow data. Therefore, Musk’s daily income could buy about 1,952 average American homes.
While Musk’s daily income will change drastically with his net worth going up recently, it’s evident that what he earns in one day is enough to purchase a shocking number of average American homes.

How Many Luxury Homes Could You Buy?
While it’s evident that Elon Musk could afford many regular homes, what could he do when it comes to luxury homes? According to recent data released by Realtor.com, the national benchmark for luxury homes fell to $1.2 million in December, down 0.6% from last year. With a daily salary of $698 million, Musk could purchase about 581 luxury homes every single day.
Redfin recently released a list of the most expensive home sales of 2025, and a beachfront compound in Naples, Florida, sold for $133 million. With $698 million, Musk could purchase five homes like this.
In 2025, Kiplinger shared a list of the most expensive American housing markets, and Manhattan, New York, topped the list with an average home price of $3,025,267. With $698 million, Musk could purchase 230 homes in the Big Apple every single day. Even though the city has a 404.6% premium to the average U.S housing market, he could still buy hundreds of homes with his daily income alone.
Where Does Musk Live?
Despite knowing that Musk could purchase hundreds of luxury homes with his daily income alone, it’s worth pointing out that he isn’t known for his vast real estate portfolio. In early 2022, The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk had sold his seven homes for around $130 million after he had previously claimed on social media that he would no longer own a home because he wanted freedom.
However, an Architectural Digest story noted that Musk moved into a 6,900-square-foot mansion in West Lake Hills, Texas, in 2022. This property was worth about $6 million, per The New York Times.
