On February 22, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai stated on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that the agreements the U.S. has reached with the European Union, South Korea, and other countries are still valid. She attempted to distinguish these agreements from the 15% global tariff zone plan announced by Trump on Saturday. Tai said, “We want them to understand that these deals will be successful deals. We will fully support these deals. We also expect our partners to fully support these deals.” She also mentioned that other trade tools used by the U.S., including investigations into the trade practices of other countries, will give the U.S. an advantage. She spoke with EU officials this weekend and will also communicate with officials from other major U.S. trade partners to reassure them. (Jin10)
