The Central Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong Holds New Year Gathering

On the evening of the 4th, the Central Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong held a Spring Festival gathering at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. About 2,000 guests from central agencies stationed in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong SAR government, the Legislative Council, judicial institutions, and various sectors of society gathered together. Zhou Ji, Deputy Director of the Central Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office and the State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, and Director of the Central Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong, attended and delivered a speech. On behalf of the Central Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, the State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, and the Central Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong, he extended the best New Year wishes to Hong Kong residents. Zhou Ji stated that the 20th CPC Central Committee’s Fourth Plenary Session has charted a new blueprint for high-quality development, and the wheel of Chinese-style modernization is riding the wind and breaking the waves, sailing far and wide. This year, Hong Kong will resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests; society will remain harmonious and stable; economic development will continue to improve; and people’s livelihoods will keep getting better. Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee expressed in his speech that by 2025, Hong Kong will steadily advance on the path from governance to prosperity. In the new year, Hong Kong’s social and economic vitality will be renewed, and new resilience will be demonstrated. The SAR government will work with all sectors of society to actively connect with national development strategies, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and strive to write a magnificent chapter of the steady and far-reaching implementation of “One Country, Two Systems.” At the gathering, performances were given by the Hujiang Primary School Drum Band, Diocesan Boys’ School Chinese Orchestra, representatives from central agencies stationed in Hong Kong, and employees of the Hong Kong SAR government.
