Family Name Change Controversy for a Family of Four, Procedures Already Completed

It is worth noting that, according to Hong Kong media reports in 2021, Ekin Cheng and his wife, Niki Chow, underwent a significant name change. Ekin Cheng’s original name was “Chen Xiaozhen,” and after the change, he officially became “Chen Taichuan”; his wife, originally surnamed Ding, changed her name to “Chen Dingran’er.” This family name change involved updating IDs and related legal procedures, all of which have been officially completed. At the CPPCC meeting, Ekin Cheng used his new official name, reflecting his new identity.
