Edomex Verification Fine 2026: Critical deadline for yellow sticker expires in February

With only 16 days remaining before the official deadline, drivers with yellow stickers and license plates ending in 5 or 6 are in the final stretch to complete the vehicle verification process in Edomex 2026. This bi-monthly requirement is an environmental obligation, and failure to comply can result in significant financial penalties that may reach thousands of pesos.

The verification schedule in Edomex maintains a staggered structure based on the sticker color and the last digits of each license plate, designed to evenly distribute administrative workload at authorized verification centers. Non-compliance within the assigned period results in financial consequences and directly impacts the vehicle’s permitted circulation.

Drivers with plates 5 and 6 have 16 days to avoid Edomex verification fines

Saturday, February 28, marks the absolute deadline for owners with yellow stickers to obtain their corresponding hologram without incurring late verification penalties. Since the beginning of January, environmental authorities have recommended scheduling appointments in advance at verification centers to ensure successful issuance of the document.

Those who postpone this process beyond February 28 will face a transition to out-of-time verification, with all associated administrative sanctions. Authorities emphasize that this date is non-negotiable and applies exclusively to private vehicles registered in the state that carry a yellow sticker.

It is strongly advised not to wait until the last days, as congestion at verification centers may prevent completing the process within the official period.

Exact fines for delayed verification or without hologram

Failure to verify within the assigned bi-monthly period is classified as late verification and results in a fine of approximately 3,394 pesos, equivalent to 30 Unidad de Medida y Actualización (UMA). This cost represents the standard administrative penalty for non-compliance within the bi-monthly period.

Additionally, driving without a valid hologram constitutes a separate infraction with a penalty of around 2,263 pesos, corresponding to 20 UMA. Both sanctions can be applied simultaneously during vehicle inspections.

Infractions resulting from non-compliance go beyond financial penalties: drivers face restrictions on their right to circulate under the Hoy No Circula program, which significantly reduces the days allowed for travel. This leads to a cascade of additional violations that are difficult to track.

Verification schedule for 2026: dates by sticker color

After the yellow sticker deadline, the next group is pink stickers with plates ending in 7 and 8, covering February and March 2026, with a deadline of Tuesday, March 31.

The system maintains this bi-monthly order based on sticker color and the last digit of the license plate. This temporal distribution allows authorized verification centers to manage demand effectively and helps vehicle owners plan to meet this environmental obligation without extreme saturation.

Failure to verify in any period results in the same financial consequences described for Edomex verification fines, so planning ahead remains the most efficient strategy to avoid unnecessary penalties.
