Anthropic just published a new constitution for Claude.\n\nAs part of it they acknowledge their own uncertainty whether Claude has some moral status or consciousness.\n\nFor that reason Claude needs to understand why Anthropic formulated these rules rather than merely dictating them.\n\nPart of the rules obviously are that Claude can’t work towards or support the extinction of humanity.\n\nIncredibly fascinating times we are living through.
