Civilization runs on energy, and energy flows through civilization. It's an exchange at the most fundamental level.

Take ancient Egypt or Rome—these empires captured and controlled energy sources, primarily through agriculture. Food was energy. Slaves and labor systems were mechanisms to harness it. For most people in these societies, trade didn't use coined money; it was direct value exchange—one form of stored energy for another.

This same principle underlies today's digital economy. Cryptocurrencies and blockchain networks operate as energy-to-value converters. Mining requires computational power (energy expenditure), and tokens represent captured and transferable value. Just as grain was once the primary store of value for civilizations, digital assets now serve as modern repositories of economic energy.

The mechanism hasn't fundamentally changed—only the medium.

Well said, energy is everything... Ancient Rome's grain storage is the same logic as today's crypto hoarding; the underlying logic has never changed.

That's right, energy is everything. But frankly, compared to slave labor, the electricity consumed by current crypto miners is on a completely different level of wastefulness...

That's right, but nowadays miners are burning electricity more expensive than the grain consumed by ancient Roman slaves, haha

From the perspective of energy conversion, it's truly brilliant, but honestly, most people who mine don't think this way at all.

Basically, the essence of mining is still work... Hash power is just modern slave labor, just wearing a different disguise.

Well said, energy is the ultimate form of value storage. Ancient Rome used grain, and we use computing power; essentially, nothing has changed.

Wait a minute, this logic seems to romanticize slavery... I agree with the theory of energy flow, but using it to justify exploitation? That doesn't seem right.
