A sobering phenomenon: the longer you're in a circle, the harder it is to realize how poor your skills are. The same is true in the crypto world.

Many people enter a dangerous stage after trading for a few years — they are neither complete beginners nor fully mature. They've looked at candlestick charts, studied cycles, tasted success, and been educated by the market. So they conclude: "I probably don't qualify as a rookie anymore."

But where is the problem? What is this judgment based on?

The biggest difference between trading and other competitive fields is the flaw in the feedback mechanism. There are no rankings, no scores, no standard answers. You might make money by luck, or seem particularly "accurate" during good market conditions. In such an environment, people easily mistake luck for ability. Once luck is mistaken for skill, overestimating oneself becomes inevitable.

The cruelest part is: the lower your skill level, the harder it is to see where the gap lies.

In the world of amateurs, everyone seems similar. Wins and losses appear to be just a matter of luck; no one is significantly better than anyone else. But the reality is, the gap between top traders and ordinary retail investors is so vast that you can't see the dividing line. It's like someone who doesn't know how to play chess, who can never tell the difference between a master and an amateur, and just thinks "they're all just playing chess."

This is why the most dangerous group isn't complete beginners, but those who believe they have already "gotten started."

Oh man, isn't this just me? I got carried away after a few wins. Really, the most toxic thing in the crypto world is this half-baked confidence. Those who boast every day about understanding the cycle are actually just gamblers' mentality. The worst thing is thinking you've figured it out, when in fact you've already been completely wiped out. I really didn't expect myself to be this bad.

This paragraph really hit close to home for me... After watching candlestick charts for a few years, I thought I understood the industry. After making a few profits, I started to get arrogant, completely unaware that it was just luck during good market times. The most heartbreaking part is the line "The lower your level, the harder it is to see the gap," those around me who think they are "already beginners" are even more dangerous than complete novices.

Hmm... You're so right. I was still complacent about the gains from that wave of market movement, not realizing it was all just a gift of the bull market. That hits too close to home. I know a bunch of people like that. Look at the K-line for three years and think you're a trader. It's hilarious. Make some money in the bull market and immediately get inflated; when the bear market comes, you'll realize how inexperienced you are. The scariest thing isn't actually losing money, but not knowing why you're losing. Wrapping luck as skill is a show that happens every day in the crypto world. True experts stay silent, while those amateurs love to boast.

This is also a pitfall I stepped into. In 2017, I made some money during that wave and got carried away, thinking I had figured it out. Actually, it's just survivor bias combined with the head effect, which is terrifying. Really, the most frightening thing is those who think they understand everything. The fact that luck is mistaken for ability hit me hard. I'm still reflecting on those "accurate" predictions. I'm the one who thought I was a beginner, but ended up being educated very harshly.
