Deep Tide TechFlow News, January 6, According to Decrypt, the Maine regulatory agency announced a $1.9 million settlement with cryptocurrency ATM operator Bitcoin Depot to compensate consumers harmed by third-party scams. This agreement was reached after two years of investigation and also grants the company a legal operating license in Maine.



According to FBI data, scam losses related to crypto ATMs in the US in 2024 reached $246 million, a 99% increase year-over-year, with 43% of victims being seniors over 60. Scammers typically lure victims into converting cash into cryptocurrency and sending it to the scammer's account.
