Recently, several data indicators for FIL have become quite eye-catching. The number of miners dropped from 1,046 last week to 1,040 now, a decrease of 6 in two days; hash rate fell from 19.7 EiB to 19.3 EiB; staking amount also decreased from 105.8 million tokens to 102.8 million tokens. These are small numbers individually, but taken together, they tell a different story.

Some may think that as small retail investors, changes in the number of miners have little to do with them. Actually, that's not the case. Miners are an important part of maintaining the project's ecosystem—what does their exit mean? The direct consequence is a decline in market liquidity. When that happens, you might find it difficult to sell when you want to, and the risk of being trapped becomes significantly higher.

Based on the current situation, I want to offer a few practical suggestions.

First, adding to your position should be done cautiously. Some may want to take advantage of low prices to lower their average cost, which sounds reasonable logically. But the current issue isn't about high or low prices; it's about changes in the project's fundamentals. Continuing to add funds is like pouring water into a leaking boat—not solving the problem, but making it worse. I've seen many cases like this—adding more and more, ending up trapped, and from a light position becoming a heavy one, locked in and more passive.

Second, pay attention to the two data points: the number of miners and the staking amount. They can directly reflect the health of the ecosystem. Especially if the number of miners drops below 1,000 and the staking amount falls below 100 million tokens, it’s basically a sign that the project has reached a critical point. At that stage, regardless of the token price, you should exit if necessary. I recommend spending two minutes each day to check these data—don't wait for a major event to regret.

A sinking ship keeps taking in water—that logic is just incredible. So many people end up becoming trapped investors this way, all because of this.

A leaking boat really can't be fixed, now I understand. I also felt worse and worse about FIL before, now I'm just waiting for that 1000 line.

A sinking ship taking in water is a perfect metaphor. Now, topping up your position is just asking for trouble.
