United Nations Conference on Trade and Development: AI to Become the Dominant Frontier Technology by 2033, with Relatively Limited Changes in Market Share for Technologies like Blockchain

The UNCTAD report projects that by 2033, the global artificial intelligence market size will reach $4.8 trillion, becoming the leading technology sector.

The report warns that AI development is concentrated in a few economies, which may exacerbate development imbalances, and calls for strategic investments and inclusive governance to achieve shared benefits.

Odaily Planet Daily News reports that the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released a report on the 19th stating that by 2033, the global artificial intelligence (AI) market is expected to reach $4.8 trillion, with a significant increase in its share among frontier technologies, making it the most dominant key technology sector.

In comparison, the market share changes for technologies such as the Internet of Things, blockchain, electric vehicles, and solar photovoltaic are relatively limited. The report also warns that the rapid development of AI is mainly concentrated in a few major economies and large enterprises, which could deepen development disparities between countries and companies. It calls for strategic investments and a more inclusive global governance mechanism to promote broader sharing of AI development成果.
