The gaming platform EPIC has notified game developers that, as required by Chinese tax authorities, overseas internet platforms must submit relevant information about sellers within China on their platforms to Chinese tax authorities each quarter starting from 2025. This information includes name, address, income, etc.
Does this mean you pay taxes to the US platform once, and then pay taxes to the Chinese tax bureau again? Is that correct?
How are independent developers supposed to make money under these circumstances?
