Physical Limits of Intelligence (PLOI) quickly reached a market cap of $5.4 million before pulling back to a recent value of $1.1 million. The top trader, known as PainCrypt0, made profits of more than $26,800 from an investment of $2,634.

The manifesto, which did not mention any token, argues that AI will not achieve human-level intelligence, but that AI and humans will slowly converge — biologically, chemically, and surgically — into a new form of humanity.

Yu said that plans for the project are “stealth” (secret) and that they intend to build “an institution.” He added that “the fact that AI produced” the manifesto strengthens the arguments presented in it.

The manifesto and PLOI emerge seven months after Yu staged his death with a fake video in which he appears to shoot himself in the head, an obituary in the San Francisco Chronicle, and an accompanying blog post. The article explained that Yu had created a cryptocurrency token, Legacoin (short for legacy coin), which would serve as “a final work of art.”

The token soared to a market cap of over $105 million before crashing when the obituary was removed. The local coroner’s office indicated that no one had died, and Yu was later found alive.

For this reason, some traders remain wary of Yu’s new project. When asked about these concerns, the creator said, “Write what you’re going to write.”

Other market participants have goodwill toward Yu’s crypto ventures. Zerebro was a very beloved and successful AI musician, with a cryptocurrency token tied to the project. Its token reached an all-time market cap of $784.42 million in January, while Zerebro’s music was popular and the AI character posted humorous content on social media.

In the month following its all-time high, the ZEREBRO token fell 92%, to $59.62 million. The token price had dropped to $42 million before Yu faked his death in early May, and the AI musician’s social media accounts disappeared. It currently has a market cap of just $36 million.
