Major shakeup coming to the S&P 500 index. Three new names are joining the club: Carvana ($CVNA), Comfort Systems ($FIX), and CRH ($CRH) are getting promoted into the benchmark.

Meanwhile, LKQ Corporation ($LKQ), Solventum ($SOLS), and Mohawk Industries ($MHK) are getting the boot from the index tracked by $SPY.

These index reshuffles always trigger interesting trading dynamics. Passive funds tracking the S&P 500 will be forced buyers of the incoming stocks and sellers of the outgoing ones. Could create some short-term price action worth watching if you're positioned in any of these names.

The reshuffling has started again. The three that got kicked out will probably get dumped, and it's not necessarily a good thing for the newcomers either.

For these three that got kicked out, we’ll have to see how their fundamentals develop; otherwise, it’s just passive selling pressure driving them down... Can something like CVNA still stage a comeback?

These stocks that were kicked out can be expected to rebound; forced selling by index funds is often a bottom signal.

well, *actually* if you understand order flow mechanics, these passive rebalances are just forced liquidity events waiting to be front-run. the real alpha is understanding nasdaq's announcement lag, not the reshuffles themselves tbh
