I heard a pretty mystical take. A lot of people keep an eye on Ethereum's gas fee numbers, thinking that only if this thing goes up does ETH have real investment value. But then they turn around and complain about how the mainnet transaction fees used to be outrageous—dozens of dollars per transaction—asking how regular people could possibly afford that.

Does that logic sound reasonable? At first glance, maybe. But if you think about it, isn't there something off here? On one hand, they want gas fees to rise to prove the network is thriving; on the other, they complain that high fees hurt adoption—isn't that a contradiction?
