Kim Jong-un meets with the Russian Defense Minister to discuss further strengthening bilateral cooperation

On April 26th local time, North Korean Workers’ Party General Secretary and State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un met with visiting Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Kim Jong Un said that Shoigu’s visit to North Korea on behalf of the Russian Federation’s military leadership and his attendance at the completion ceremony of the North Korea Overseas Military Operations Memorial Hall highlight the political significance of the memorial hall’s completion. Kim Jong Un also expressed gratitude to the Russian leadership for their sincere efforts to develop the alliance between North Korea and Russia. Shoigu stated that the heroic and brave spirit displayed by North Korean soldiers will forever be recorded in the history of military friendship between Russia and North Korea. The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on increasingly sharp international and regional issues and discussed a series of matters to further consolidate and strengthen the political and military cooperation between North Korea and Russia. Kim Jong Un said that the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will, as always, fully support Russia’s policies to safeguard national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security interests.
