Just found out there are actually rare bills still floating around that could be worth serious money if you know what to look for. Like, the largest us currency bill ever made was that 1861 thousand dollar note with Grover Cleveland on it—apparently those go for like 1,500 to 2,500 bucks depending on condition. Wild.
Then there's the 1928 five hundred dollar bill with McKinley that's worth around 1 to 1.5k, and even the 1950 hundred dollar bills with Benjamin Franklin can fetch 120 to 150 if they're in decent shape. The 1862 fifty dollar bill with Grant is another one people hunt for, usually 80 to 100 range.
But here's the thing—the 1933-34 ten dollar Silver Certificates are probably the ones you'd actually stumble across since they're more common. Most are just worth face value, but if you find one with a light green seal instead of the darker blue-green, those can go for 20 to 35 dollars. The key is checking the condition and the seal color.
I'm not saying go crazy looking for these, but if you come across any old bills that look different, might be worth getting them checked out by someone who actually knows what they're doing. The condition matters way more than you'd think for this stuff.
