Do you know when you stay up all night, revisiting old conversations, wondering what you could have done differently? Well, everyone goes through that. And then comes that tired advice of "love yourself" and "let time take care of it"... but is that really all there is?
I think forgetting someone isn't as complicated as it seems. The thing is to stop pretending they're going to disappear, you know? If you want to write that message, go ahead. If you want to see how the person is doing, check. But here’s the point: you need to accept that maybe they don’t value you the way you deserved. And that’s okay.
The real challenge is to let go of the shame, to let the person exist naturally in your life without all that weight. You don’t need to delete, block, or make a scene. Over time, when you remember them, that intense emotion fades away. You can still follow their life, but without expectations, without that hope that something will change.
But here’s the secret to truly forgetting: grow. Get better. Make money, develop yourself, become someone you’re proud of. When you go through experiences and evolve, those people you couldn’t get out of your head start to seem much less special. You realize it was your affection that made them shine, not the other way around. And what you really miss is that dedication you had, not them specifically.
Forgetting isn’t about erasing someone from your life; it’s simply about giving that person less power. Moving on without resentment, without hope, just with the certainty that you deserved more. When you become a mountain, it doesn’t matter who walks away.
