Recently, a friend asked me about SMS verification platforms, so I decided to organize the pitfalls I've encountered. Honestly, using a Chinese phone number temporarily to receive SMS verification codes or test overseas website interfaces by buying a new SIM card isn't cost-effective. SMS verification platforms become the most convenient choice.
I've tried several platforms; some fail to receive verification codes, some are so slow that it takes half a day, but I finally found a few that are relatively stable. SMS-Activate and 5SIM perform the best overall, with verification codes arriving within about 10 seconds. They cover a wide range of countries, making them especially suitable for cross-border testing. If you're mainly using Chinese numbers to receive SMS verification codes, Super Cloud SMS and XiaoNiao Verification are more suitable. US numbers typically take about 10–30 seconds, while Chinese numbers are faster, usually arriving in 5–20 seconds.
The process is also straightforward: register and recharge, select the country and target application, assign a number, then input it into the website that needs verification. The verification code will be displayed directly in the backend. Some platforms also support API integration, which is suitable for bulk operations. My experience is to load multiple numbers; if one becomes invalid, you can switch immediately. Some platforms even support one-click number switching, which is especially practical.
However, be aware that shared numbers are more likely to be registered already, and verification codes from less popular platforms may be delayed. When choosing a platform, don’t just go for the cheapest option. Also, virtual numbers are not long-term primary numbers, so privacy and security can't be fully guaranteed. It's safer to use them temporarily. Have you used any of these platforms?
