Asian Stocks Trend | Japanese Stocks Close Up 290 Points
The Japanese stock market and the South Korean stock market both closed higher.
The Nikkei Average opened higher and continued to rise. After the broader market opened up 82 points, it repeatedly moved upward, once up as much as 915 points, reaching a high of 54,039 points. As the session progressed, the advance gradually narrowed; it had at one point been up only 82 points. It then fell to a low of 53,205 points. The market closed at 53,413 points for the day, up 290 points, or 0.55%.
South Korea’s stock market rose more than 1%. The KOSPI Composite in Seoul closed at 5,450 points, up 73 points, or 1.36%.
Among Asia-Pacific markets, Mainland China’s A-shares, Hong Kong stocks, Taiwan stocks, and Australian stocks were closed for the holiday.
