The world's highest trough-shaped solar thermal power plant has begun construction in Tibet.

People’s Finance News, April 6: On April 6, the 50 MW solar-thermal power project in Umatang, Tibet—CGN Umatang—of the trough solar-thermal power plant with the highest global elevation officially started construction in Umatang Township, Dangxiong County, Lhasa City. The site is at an altitude of 4,550 meters. The project also achieves the first commercial application of an 8.6-meter large-aperture trough collector with fully independent intellectual property rights of our country, while being equipped with a 6-hour molten-salt thermal energy storage system, enabling continuous night-time power generation and flexible peak-shaving.
