Hongguo Short Drama Governance Announcement: 1,718 illegal manga dramas taken down in the first quarter
On April 6, Redguo Short Dramas released an Announcement on Continuing to Govern Violations of the Improper Use of AI Short-Drama Materials (hereinafter referred to as the “Announcement”). The “Announcement” shows that in this year’s first quarter, the platform has cumulatively taken down 1,718 cartoon drama series that violate the platform’s governance standards. In response to the frequent occurrence of violations related to the improper use of AI short-drama materials in recent times, the platform has carried out a focused and intensive remediation. So far, the platform has completed a comprehensive review of 15k works, handled 670 noncompliant works in accordance with regulations, and disclosed four categories of typical cases.
The “Announcement” makes it clear that content compliance is Redguo Short Dramas’ consistent requirement for content producers. To standardize the creation order of AI short dramas and to protect original and lawful rights and interests, the platform firmly cracks down on behaviors such as the improper use of AI short-drama materials without authorization and unauthorized appropriation, and continues to carry out full-dimension content governance work.
This announcement highlights four categories of typical violations: first, the unauthorized use of cartoon characters well known to the public. Related works were taken down because they could not provide lawful authorization documentation. Second, the improper use of AI brand images and trademark identifiers; both seasons of the involved series were taken down. Third, the theft of original game character images; works that are highly similar in terms of character design and other aspects were taken down in accordance with regulations. Fourth, AI-generated content impersonating actors’ images; the platform handled the cases because compliant authorization was not obtained.
