International Energy Agency: More than 40 Middle East energy assets "severely damaged"

On March 23, International Energy Agency Director Fatih Birol stated that more than 40 energy assets in nine Middle Eastern countries have suffered “severe or very severe” damage due to the Middle Eastern war, which could lead to continued disruptions in the global supply chain after the conflict ends. Birol said this means that oil fields, refineries, and pipelines will take some time to recover. He stated, “Not only oil and natural gas, but also some vital parts of the global economy—such as petrochemical products, fertilizers, sulfur, and helium—have been disrupted, which will have serious consequences for the global economy.” (Jiemian News)
