Geely's Li Shufu Presents a High-End New Car to Dong Mingzhu, who Declares, "The Best Cars Are Made in China" | Hot Finance

Recently, Gree Electric Appliances Chairman Dong Mingzhu visited the Beijing office of Geely Holding Group to officially take delivery of a high-end new energy MPV, with Geely Holding Group Chairman Li Shufu personally handing over the vehicle. Dong Mingzhu stated on-site that Chinese entrepreneurs should support domestic luxury brands like Zeekr.

It is reported that over one-third of Zeekr 009 owners are business owners. On the day of delivery, Dong Mingzhu, accompanied by Li Shufu, rode in the vehicle to the scene. Dong Mingzhu responded, “Sitting in the car is very stable and safe,” to which Li Shufu said, “This is a pure electric vehicle independently developed and repeatedly validated by us. Just one of its extensive architectures cost hundreds of millions of yuan to develop.”

It is understood that the model Dong Mingzhu purchased is a four-seat ultra-luxury flagship MPV from the Zeekr brand, featuring the world’s first integrated casting “C-ring seat” and safety airbags, an 800V high-voltage system matched with 108-degree ultra-fast charging 5C Kirin batteries. With a 10-minute charge providing a 500-kilometer range, it is the best-selling MPV in the 2025 market for vehicles over 400,000 yuan.

According to reports, Dong Mingzhu decided to buy the vehicle after only one test ride. When asked about her reasons, she said she had seen many Gree employees purchase the Zeekr 009, and she just wanted to buy one quickly. Notably, her choice also directly influenced several entrepreneurs; “When I said I wanted to buy a Zeekr, several friends asked me to help them buy one too.”

During the post-delivery interaction, Dong Mingzhu once again demonstrated her “Iron Lady” presence. “We need to have a sense of national pride. We are not only making cars and home appliances; the patriotism and pursuit of Chinese entrepreneurs are about showcasing China’s manufacturing strength and capability to the world. Gree has mastered core technology, and Geely is diligently working on safety and quality. We should focus on strengthening our internal skills and innovation, rather than relying on internal competition and price wars.”

When Li Shufu mentioned, “Decades ago, our vision for car manufacturing was to make Chinese cars travel all over the world, not to have the world’s cars travel all over China,” Dong Mingzhu straightforwardly responded that nowadays, many Geely cars can be seen on roads in Southeast Asian countries, making Chinese people proud. “So, the best cars are made in China, and Chinese cars are made by Geely. I hope Mr. Li will boldly declare this—it’s time now.”

Li Shufu replied, “In the field of intelligent electric vehicles, China has indeed reached the forefront of the world. User experience is a very important standard for our pursuit of high-end manufacturing. We will continue to work hard to make China the best, and the best in the world.”
