New York, February 24 — The three major U.S. stock indexes rose on February 24.
At the close of trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 370.44 points to 49,174.50, a gain of 0.76%; the S&P 500 rose by 52.32 points to 6,890.07, a gain of 0.77%; and the Nasdaq Composite increased by 236.41 points to 22,863.68, a gain of 1.04%.
In terms of sectors, nine out of eleven sectors in the S&P 500 gained, while two declined. The non-essential consumer goods and industrial sectors led the gains with increases of 1.58% and 1.23%, respectively, while the healthcare and energy sectors declined by 0.53% and 0.11%.
